World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, item upgrade or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level with normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-level version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a high risk that the item may become obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible to level 15.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item upgrader kit requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrade an item the original item will be replaced with a new item. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This could be a problem in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens in order to do so. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be repeated often, as it could waste lots of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to increase the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its initial state and the player having to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like chances to be crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item. For instance an item of common use could have five upgrades for a price of. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.

Premium items might require different upgrades than normal equipment. For example, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs mentioned above.
